THE DAYS ARE GETTING SHORTER!

There are a couple of things that indicate our riding days will soon be over. Labor Day has come and gone. School is back in session and there’s the noticeably shorter days.

For us track days are nearly over. Road racing in our area is pretty close to being done for the season. The end of August afforded us the closest venue to take in a MotoAmerica race at Pittsburgh International Raceway. And of course Thunder on the Strip in Geneva on the Lake.

The weekend at PittRace was filled with what appeared to be record breaking crowds. Ohio and Pennsylvania have always supported pro motorcycle racing. From the days of competition at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course to the new venue near Pittsburgh, motorcycle enthusiasts filled the hillside cheering on their favorites. Competitors did not disappoint as racing was close. And although friends that were competing may have not had the finishes they hoped for, watching someone you know adds to the excitement.

This year’s Thunder on the Strip had arguably the best weather (with the exception of Sunday) in a very long time. The mix of sun and clouds made for some good riding. Plenty of entertainment with great bands, the burn out pit and vendors galore. And I know a good amount of bikers took in the countryside and sampled some fine Ohio wines and spirits.

I know there are plenty of good riding days ahead but the days getting shorter remind us of what is ahead for those of us residing in Northeast Ohio.

Take advantage of the riding time left.

As always ride safe,

Denise Kennedy
