The THUNDER ZONE Returns to Geneva-On-The-Lake!

Friday, September 9th – Sunday, September 11th

The Landing and Sunset Bar: 5475 Lake Road, Geneva-On-The-Lake, OH

While Ohio Bike Week is Ohio’s Rally and kicks off the riding season for many, Thunder On The Strip is a true “Biker Homecoming” for thousands as they wind down after a summer of riding and head into the Fall / “off-season”.  What started as a way to stretch the season out one more weekend – and maybe blow out the final inventory before this historic resort town winds down at the end of summer – has evolved into a celebration of great music and the riding lifestyle.  It’s a great chance to catch up and party with riding friends from across the state, before things start to get cold.  The local, community driven rally is one of our all time favorites and has been a mainstay on our schedule since it started more than 15 years ago – before we even had the magazine!

Over the year’s the Rally has evolved and our “Thunder Zone” has moved down the street to the Marketplace Landing, adjacent to the Old Firehouse Winery and Sunset Bar.  Friday through Sunday, we host a relaxed party with live music, vendors, and plenty of bike parking right on America’s North Coast – overlooking Lake Erie.  It’s an amazing location with one of the best views on the Strip – especially as the sun sets over the lake.  During the day, it’s a great place to relax and enjoy the park like setting – even rolling out a blanket alongside your bike.  You can’t beat it.  There’s even a historic Ferris Wheel that overlooks the lake!

Iron & Ink TATTOO PARTY Friday, Sept 9th Sunset Bar / Thunder Zone 6-9pm

New this Year – it’s a TATTOO PARTY for anyone with ink or an appreciation for it!

Thunder Roads Ohio will be hosting an IRON & INK TATTOO PARTY as part of this year’s THUNDER ZONE in Geneva-on-the-Lake. This is an informal contest – offering prizes for both those exhibiting their ink and the artists that did the work! Additionally, the party has an interactive format, that allows folks to see the work being showcased up-close. Participants and guests get to vote on their favorite work and possibly win some prizes!  Prizes include custom trophies and placards for both the participants and artists participating, and raffle prizes for those voting!

Photographers will also be on-site from Iron & Ink The Magazine and Thunder Roads Ohio to photograph some of the work shown and showcase it in both the magazines and online with full recognition of both the exhibitor and the artist / shop. This is not only a great opportunity to show off your work a little – but also to help support your artist.

Register in advance to reserve your spot and get a FREE T-Shirt – on Facebook or through ReasonsToRide.com. https://reasonstoride.com/event/thunder-2022-iron-ink-tattoo-party/

Local tattoo shops are encouraged to participate in the shows and invite their customers out to showcase the work being done by their artists. Special recognition and prizes are awarded to shops having more than 4 customers and at least 1 artist on hand for the contest. (Shops should register in advance by emailing – BikeShowInfo@gmail.com)

East End Bar & Grill 5236 Lake Road E, GOTL, OH

Over the last year East End has become one of the undisputed HOT SPOTS on the Strip, with a great patio featuring an outdoor bar and stage – with convenient parking alongside.  Has a cozier feel than some of the bigger spots and has great food to go with the cold drinks.  We’ve heard that the Philly steak sandwich w/ tator tots is a great call!

Murphy’s Pub & Ale House  5475 Lake Road, GOTL OH

Right in the midst of the Strip is an authentic Irish bar serving up great food and drinks.  It’s a great place to sit down and escape the “biker craziness” for a few moments while still having plenty of fun.  GREAT staff and they have live music as well!  And they have a great outdoor patio / beer garden that overlooks the THUNDER ZONE and Lake Erie!

The Thunder Bar Hop Don’t Miss Out On Your T!

One of the coolest things about Thunder is the BAR HOP – which is still FREE to participate in, thanks to the support of the participating establishments.  You can pick up a slip at any participating stop – and there are 16 of them to choose from.  Visit each participating establishment and make a purchase to get your slip stamped at all 16 places.  Then turn it in for a FREE T-Shirt!  Awesome tradition that the rally has maintained!  Please Note:  The purchases do NOT have to be alcohol, and you can’t walk around with your beverages.

Sportsterz Bar & Grill 5422 Lake Rd E, GOTL

Sportsterz is not only one of the coolest and most popular ride stops in Ohio – it also was one of the original anchors of Thunder-on-the-Strip.  We called it home for years as we hosted the Thunder Zone in their parking lot and held burn out contests and bike shows that were highlights of the entire riding season for many.  We have thousands of pictures on our Facebook from the Sportsterz Thunder Zones – if you were there, visit us online to check them out.

Under new management, Sportsterz now has more of a focus on serving up great food (year-round) on their amazing patio which has an almost “Biker-Hofbrauhaus” feel to it.  They still have GREAT music all weekend and are an essential stop for any “biker” hitting the strip.  Don’t miss the vendors on-site.

Editor’s Pick’s BadJuJu on Friday (9pm).  Huckin Fillbilly’s on Saturday (7pm) 911 Ceremony on Sunday 6pm

The Goblin Amphitheater / Yankies Bar Grill  5482 Lake Rd E, GOTL

Late-night, party central is certainly Yankies and the Goblin Amphitheater located behind it.  While the entire “Strip” roars all weekend with a lot of really cool venues and great music – each night really ends at Yankies and their back lot stages.  All weekend they have great tribute bands and feature acts on stage and it’s the place to catch up with everyone that is still going strong at the end of the night!

Editor’s Pick’s Great tribute bands every night!  ESCAPE (Journey) on Saturday is amazing.  OLD SKOOL is one of the BEST party bands around, and they are on the Goblin stage at 5 and 9pm on Saturday.

Second slide

Other Pick’s –

Founder’s Parade – Friday, Sept 9th Leaves DW3’s at 5:30pm going to East End.

Annual tradition is FREE to participate in and really kicks the weekend party off.   You can meet up with riders at East End to ride out to DW3’s as well, they leave at 4:45pm.

Billy Morris & The Sunset Strip at the Cove – Saturday, Sept 10th Midnight

Billy Morris, formerly with Warrant, is one of our favorite ROCKERS and a National Champion level motocross rider.  He’ll be serving up some late night “Cherry Pie” at the legendary COVE – not to be missed!
